The Central China Plains was the cradle of Chinese civilization. Similar to the US Great Plains, it's agricultural abundance allowed the formation of most of the dynasties of China. The ancient kingdoms here were known as the 'Middle Kingdoms', and were seen as the nucleus of Chinese Culture.
