Chittenden Area Transportation Management Association (CATMA) is a small nonprofit organization based in Winooski, Vermont, serving Chittenden County. It administers customized, turnkey transportation demand management programs designed to improve access to work, reduce parking challenges and congestion, and lower carbon emissions; CATMA does not operate transit services but maintains strong partnerships with local transit providers to help its members navigate them. Founded in 1992, CATMA was established by Champlain College, the University of Vermont, and the UVM Medical Center and operates as a 501(c)(3) membership-based organization. In 2015 CATMA opened membership to businesses and developers in the region, offering three tiers of membership and a free Employee Transportation Coordinator Network. The organization provides services such as online transportation surveys and analyses, programs to support alternative commuting, and a customized, comprehensive commuter program for employers. A notable program development was the 2018 launch of Greenride Bikeshare, created in partnership with the Gotcha Group and local sponsors, illustrating CATMA’s focus on expanding mobility options in the county.
