Cincinnati Opera, founded in 1920, is a mid-sized organization in the performing arts and the second oldest opera company in the United States. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, it presents operatic performances featuring renowned artists and conductors, notable company debuts, and elaborate sets and costumes, performed in partnership with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. The company is described as Cincinnati's prime summer arts festival, drawing a regional audience as well as opera tourists from the United States and Canada. Its programs extend beyond main-stage productions, including Opera Fusion: New Works, a collaborative effort with CCM launched in 2011 to foster the development of new American operas, supported by the Mellon Foundation. Additionally, it has introduced initiatives such as The Black Opera Project. In 2025, Cincinnati Opera hosted its Summer Festival from June 12 through July 27 at Cincinnati's historic Music Hall.
