Citizens Electric Corporation is a not-for-profit, member-owned electric utility headquartered in Perryville, Missouri. Proudly serving over 27,000 members across Ste. Genevieve, Perry, St. Francois, Jefferson, and Bollinger counties, our mission is to provide safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to the communities we serve. Founded in 1947, Citizens Electric emerged from the acquisition of Missouri General Utilities by Genevieve Electric Cooperative, bringing power to rural areas of southeastern Missouri. Today, we are the largest electric cooperative in Missouri by kilowatt-hour sales, and one of 40 electric distribution cooperatives in the state. In 2025, Citizens Electric expanded its capabilities by adding transmission to our service portfolio, achieving certified market participation with the Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO) as a Transmission Owner. We are proud members of the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives, Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) committed to delivering excellence and innovation in energy service.
