The City of Amesbury is a local government entity serving a community of about 16,000 residents on Massachusetts' North Shore. It provides municipal governance and services to residents and businesses, situated at the junction of I-95 and I-495. The city's downtown preserves its industrial heritage, with historic mill buildings repurposed as artist studios, restaurants, offices, residences and shops, creating a walkable, mixed-use core. It collaborates with schools and regional partners on safety and public services, including a partnership with IN FORCE 911 for school safety and security and involvement in regional vaccine distribution efforts. In 2023 it issued a request for proposals for the former Trader Alan's Truck Stop site to explore development opportunities. In November 2024, City officials announced plans to relocate city hall to a Market Street location.
