The City of Bell Gardens was incorporated as a general law city in 1961. It is bordered by the cities of Commerce, Downey, South Gate and Bell. The City has a population of approximately 44, 000 in an area of 2.5 square miles and is located in the southeastern part of Los Angeles County. City government is comprised of 7 operating departments, including the City Manager's Office, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, and Police. The City offers beautiful parks, emerald green soccer fields, childcare centers, and a community golf course. Despite the challenges facing city governments throughout California, the City of Bell Gardens continues to grow and prosper.
