Marine City is a small municipal government located in southern St. Clair County, perched at the confluence of the St. Clair and Belle rivers. The community sits just across the St. Clair River from Ontario, Canada, reflecting its historical ties to French settlement and the traditional Ribbon farm system. Its maritime past, rooted in shipbuilding on the Great Lakes, shapes a distinctive waterfront heritage that is preserved through public access to parks and a swimming beach.

The city maintains a historic downtown and adjacent commercial and light industrial districts that collectively support a broad range of goods and services for residents and visitors. Governing is conducted through a City Commission structure, with day-to-day operations overseen by a City Manager and department heads. As a community, Marine City relies on active civic organizations and churches to contribute to the quality of life in this small regional municipality.
