The City of Milan is a municipal government in southeast Michigan, spanning Washtenaw and Monroe Counties. It provides core local services including police, public works, building and zoning, and parks and recreation, and operates as part of a regional fire department serving Milan, York, and London townships. The community is small, with a population of 5,836 per the most recent census. In April 2022, the city entered into an agreement with RTS Waste Services to manage garbage and waste materials within Milan. In 2023, Milan announced upgrades to its wastewater treatment facilities as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements.
