The City of Newberg is a municipal government entity serving the City of Newberg in Oregon. It provides essential services such as police, street maintenance, libraries, public improvements, planning and zoning, and water and sewage treatment. The city supports a diverse local economy with home-grown businesses and regional institutions, including George Fox University, a Portland Community College campus branch, and Providence Newberg Medical Center, all located within its boundaries. Situated in the Chehalem Valley on the Willamette River, the city lies about 25 miles southwest of Portland and is separated from the broader metro area by greenbelt forests and agricultural land. The city is involved in the second phase of the Newberg-Dundee Bypass, a major state highway project that has been in planning for 30 years and aims to remove truck traffic from downtown Newberg and support downtown revitalization, alongside urban-planning initiatives such as Downtown Improvement Plan, Newberg 2030 growth boundary expansion, and riverfront master plan updates. In January 2026, the city launched a photo red light and speed enforcement camera program.
