The City of Oak Ridge is a municipal government in eastern Tennessee that serves a community of about 27,000 people. It occupies portions of Anderson and Roane counties and covers roughly 92 square miles, including facilities affiliated with the U.S. Department of Energy. The city hosts a national laboratory and a national security complex, and it supports a cluster of high-tech, high-wage employers as well as a regional medical center. 
Oak Ridge operates several industrial zones, with four parks developed by the city, two developed by private firms, and a Horizon Center industrial park on about 1,000 acres of undeveloped federal land. Its remit includes residential, commercial, and municipal land use, and it engages in regional economic development efforts through partnerships such as with the Roane Alliance.
