The City of University Park is a local government entity serving a predominantly residential area in Texas, located about five miles north of downtown Dallas. As a mid-sized municipality, it provides essential services and seeks to maintain a secure, welcoming atmosphere through a hometown policing approach. The city is the home of Southern Methodist University and the George W. Bush Presidential Center, and its location offers access to a broad mix of cultural, recreational, shopping, and business activities in the Dallas area. The community comprises more than 25,000 residents living in a diverse housing stock, with a substantial share of educated adults (about 72% of residents over 25 hold college or advanced degrees). The Highland Park Independent School District serves the city, and its students consistently perform well in state assessments, with a high rate of graduates continuing to college. In November 2024, University Park announced the appointment of Talia Gregory as Assistant Director of Human Resources, bringing experience from the North Texas Tollway Authority.
