Vestavia Hills, Alabama is a vibrant, affluent community in Jefferson County with nearly 40,000 residents. Founded on the summit of Shades Mountain, the city draws its name and heritage from George Ward, a former Birmingham mayor who built a Roman-inspired home called “Vestavia” in the 1920s. The nearby Sibyl Temple, a gazebo modeled after a Roman structure, is now a historic City landmark.
