Based in Missoula, Montana, the Clark Fork Coalition is a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and restoring the Clark Fork River watershed, a 22,000-square-mile region spanning western Montana and northern Idaho. Founded in 1985, it pursues a science-based, community-driven approach and partners with citizens, scientists, landowners, business leaders, and public officials to advance watershed health and local vitality. 

The coalition has led restoration and cleanup work in the Upper Clark Fork, including the restoration of 28 miles of Silver Bow Creek and engagement of thousands of residents and youth through workshops, cleanups, floats, and tours. Near Missoula, the confluence of the Blackfoot and Clark Fork rivers is free-flowing again after the Milltown Dam removal, enabling native fish passage and broader river access. In 2024, Clark Fork Coalition named Brian Chaffin as executive director, with leadership beginning in June.
