Clarkston Community Schools is a public education district in the Village of Clarkston, Michigan, serving about 6,500 students across a campus system that covers 418 acres and 63 square miles. The district operates seven elementary schools (K–5), a middle school for grades 6–7, a junior high for grades 8–9, Clarkston High School (grades 10–12), and Renaissance High School, an alternative high school. It is led by Superintendent Shawn Ryan and a Board of Education, and employs 501 to 1,000 staff. Voters approved a district-wide bond to upgrade safety, security, facilities, and technology. The district has two national Blue Ribbon schools and six additional Michigan Exemplary Blue Ribbon schools; Forbes recognized Clarkston as a Top Suburb to Live Well, and state assessment scores and Education YES! grades are among the best in Oakland County, with graduates earning more than $5 million in scholarships.
