The Cleveland Law Library, founded in 1869 by leading members of the Cleveland bar to promote the science of the law, serves the local legal community by providing a broad collection of print and electronic legal materials and related information services. It ranks among the largest membership law libraries in the United States and is governed by thirteen trustees drawn from Cleveland's legal community. Membership is centered on the practicing bar, with dues from more than 3,600 members supporting the library’s service structure and resources. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, the library operates from the fourth-floor offices in the Cuyahoga County Courthouse and offers direct service as well as remote access, fax, mail, and courier delivery to reach busy attorneys. In 2010, it signed an agreement with the Cuyahoga County Law Library Resources Board to provide integrated services to private members, county officials, and the local judiciary, expanding its scope beyond the courthouse. The library positions itself within the legal services sector as a global information hub for legal and business resources.
