Cloud Peak Energy is a Wyoming-based coal producer, headquartered in Gillette, and the only pure-play Powder River Basin coal company among the large U.S. producers. It mines low-sulfur, subbituminous coal and provides logistics services to support coal delivery. The company owns and operates three surface mines in the PRB—Antelope and Cordero Rojo in Wyoming, and Spring Creek in Montana—located in the Powder River Basin, one of the lowest-cost major coal-producing regions in the United States.
