Clube de Regatas do Flamengo is a Brazilian spectator sports club headquartered in Rio de Janeiro. It operates at 997 Avenida Borges de Medeiros, Rio de Janeiro, 22430-041 Brazil, and was founded on 17 November 1895 as a rowing club, originally in the Flamengo neighborhood before moving to the Gávea district in the first half of the 20th century. The club began football activities in 1912 and has achieved international and domestic success, including the Mundial Interclubes and the Copa Libertadores in 1981, with the 1981 Libertadores squad led by Zico. Flamengo holds the record for the most Campeonato Carioca titles, with 39, earned across multiple periods, including 1942-44, 1953-55, 1978-79, 1999-2001, 2007-2009, and 2019-2021. It is described as having the largest fan base in the world, with an estimated more than 45 million supporters in Brazil.
