The CMT Research Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on accelerating the development of treatments and cures for Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease. It is led by two experts with more than twenty years of combined experience collaborating with CMT researchers to identify the most promising work in drug-delivery research. By forming strategic partnerships with researchers, pharmaceutical and biotechnology professionals, and a national network of CMT patients, the foundation seeks to catalyze progress toward effective therapies from discovery to clinical application and is based in Atlanta, Georgia.

CMT is a progressive genetic nerve disease with more than 90 known genetic causes, which can present at birth or later in life, and it commonly leads to muscle and sensory loss; there is currently no cure and no proven treatment, affecting millions worldwide. In a recent development, CMTRF funded a Johns Hopkins University study to identify a blood-based biomarker that could indicate whether future CMT treatments are effective.
