Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA) is a fundraising agency affiliated with the Holy See, focused on serving the people and churches of the Middle East, Northeast Africa, India, and Eastern Europe. Since 1926, it has supported initiatives that protect the vulnerable, strengthen communities, and promote unity and peace, operating through four main programs: care for children, building social infrastructure, strengthening families, and rushing emergency relief. Its work targets communities facing poverty, malnutrition, disease, displacement, and the lasting impacts of conflict, providing education, healthcare, shelters, development projects, and emergency aid to those in need. Based in New York City, CNEWA emphasizes a broad, inclusive mission, delivering aid irrespective of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender, and partnering with local churches and humanitarian networks to reach affected populations. In recent years, the organization has highlighted collaborations with groups such as Caritas Ukraine and Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, and has continued efforts to address crises in regions where it operates.
