The Spanish National Cancer Research Centre is a public institution of excellence committed to research, diagnosis and treatment for cancer. 

The CNIO currently houses 22 Research Groups, organised in 7 Scientific Programmes, plus 5 Clinical Research Unit(s) that work closely with several hospitals. These scientific groups are supported by 19 Core Units that provide state-of-the-art facilities and technical expertise. The CNIO also has an Experimental Therapeutics Programme leader in academic drug discovery.

El Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO) es una institución pública española dedicada a la investigación, diagnóstico y tratamiento del cáncer. El CNIO cubre todo el recorrido de la I+D+i, desde la investigación básica hasta la clínica.

Actualmente el CNIO tiene 22 Grupos de Investigación, organizados en 7 Programas Científicos, más 5 Unidades de Investigación Clínica que trabajan estrechamente con varios hospitales. En el CNIO hay 19 Unidades de Apoyo a la Investigación dotadas de las más modernas instalaciones y conocimientos técnicos. El CNIO también tiene un Programa de Terapias Experimentales de referencia en el descubrimiento de nuevos fármacos.

Desde el 2011, el CNIO es uno de los Centros de Excelencia Severo Ochoa acreditados por la Agencia Estatal de Investigación, Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.
