The Colorado Lions KidSight Program (KidSight Colorado) touches the lives of thousands of families in Colorado each year. We focus on promoting the vision health of young children ages six months through six years by providing free vision screening and community education. Vision screening is a cost effective, child friendly and risk free approach to detecting eye conditions in children. Our goal is to identify vision impairment early in order to link to appropriate eye care services. Early identification of vision problems is critical because the young child needs to be “vision ready” to learn. More than 80% of learning is visual and poor vision can cause poor academic performance, low self-esteem and even limited social and sports involvement.
