The Columbus Symphony Orchestra, based in Columbus, Georgia, provides orchestral performances to audiences across the Southeast as part of the region’s cultural offerings. Its roots reach back to 1855, when Herman S. Saroni, a student of Mendelssohn, founded the ensemble, making it one of the earliest orchestras in the United States.
