The state governments have for too long accepted numerous federal laws, taxes and regulations without question. The result is that in any given state, the average citizen is more exposed to laws written by a body far removed from his/her locality and more than likely inappropriate or ill fitting. Additionally, because of the size and scale of the federal population the citizens of the state are too far removed numerically to impact legislation. In view of this, Karl Tatgenhorst feels that the job of the state legislature should be to ensure that laws passed at the state level are respective of the liberties of the individual citizen as well as monitoring federal laws for creep into matters of the state. Through the act of enforcing sovereignty with tools such as the tenth amendment, the rights and liberties of the citizens can more effectively be preserved. Karl is not yet an endorsed candidate by the Libertarian Party of Indiana, but the purpose of this committee is to pursue that nomination.
