The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) is an independent nonprofit organization in the international affairs sector that promotes press freedom worldwide. Based in New York, United States, it operates as a mid-sized nonprofit dedicated to defending journalists and advancing freedom of expression on a global scale. CPJ’s activities center on promoting press freedom and supporting journalists across many countries. In 2025 CPJ expanded its regional leadership with the appointment of regional directors for the Americas and the Asia-Pacific. That year CPJ participated in partnerships to extend its reach, including collaboration with the Caribbean Broadcasting Union and the Public Media Alliance to offer a digital-safety workshop for Caribbean journalists.
