Community Action Partnership of Lake County is a mid-sized nonprofit focused on helping low-income residents in Lake County. As the region's largest social service organization, it administers a broad mix of programs designed to support families on the path to self-sufficiency. Based in Waukegan, Lake County, the organization has operated since 1964, using federally funded resources locally to tailor services to community needs. It oversees Lake County Head Start, LIHEAP, Youth and Family Services, Home Weatherization, RSVP, and affordable housing programs for families and Veterans. The work is designed to reduce the causes and effects of poverty and to raise living standards by addressing both immediate needs and long-term self-sufficiency. It is part of a national network of about 1,100 agencies established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, collaborating to address poverty across the United States.
