Community Capital Development (CCD) creates a central source for women, minority and low income entrepreneurs to access capital, the training to expand their business expertise and the proactive support they need to succeed. Access to Capital: CCD is unique from other lending institutions because of its partnerships with financial institutions and foundations and the proactive support it provides its clients; CCD is thus able to build a more diversified portfolio than a traditional bank and ensure the greatest opportunity to secure non-traditional capital for its clients. The success of the CCD portfolio then partially funds the training arm of the organization. Training: Training includes: writing marketing and business plans, a seven week start-up seminar addressing financial literacy and other business needs and hands-on computer training. Proactive Support: Support takes several forms including evaluating the feasibility of ideas on paper so the entrepreneur can self-select in or out of the business, 1:1 counseling to meet the needs of the business, a safe platform for people to discuss business ideas and business assistance before and after the loan is provided. These services ensure the long-term economic success of locally owned enterprises, creating livable-wage jobs, developing life-long transferable skills and building opportunities within distressed communities and emerging market niches. The organization develops partnerships with statewide foundations, financial institutions and community outreach organizations to address poverty and unemployment in Washington State and enhance these urban and rural underserved communities from within.
