The Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas operates as a federally qualified health center delivering patient-centered primary care. It serves more than 50,000 children and adults each year and maintains a network of locations across Kansas and Oklahoma. The organization began as an extension of Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center and is now a patient-owned, community-operated facility based in Pittsburg, Kansas. It accepts Medicare, Medicaid, KanCare, and private insurance, and offers discounted rates to individuals meeting financial assistance guidelines, with a policy of not refusing care due to an inability to pay. The center is governed by a 12-member Board that includes patients and community representatives. In December 2025, CHC/SEK launched a community-based pharmacy residency program, reflecting an expansion of its medical education offerings.
