Community Health for Asian Americans (CHAA), a non-profit health and wellness services agency, was established in 1996 as Asian Pacific Psychological Services. CHAA changed its name in January of 2009 to reflect an expanded mission and vision for working with historically underserved Asian, South Asian and Pacific Islander communities. CHAA's mission, vision and values are grounded in promoting wellness, recovery and resiliency through consumer-, family- and community-driven services. CHAA offers a continuum of services and programming, including behavioral health services, youth development, and family support, while providing a voice and leadership on behalf of API communities through community organizing, advocacy, and systems transformation. CHAA engages clients in shaping their care, promoting health, and developing skills to strengthen family relationships, nurture their children, and function effectively in all life spheres. CHAA believes that health and wellness are vital to community development and social justice. CHAA believes in honoring the existing strengths and leadership within the communities it serves through shared knowledge, collective decision-making, and cultural sensitivity.
