Community Health Plan of Washington (CHPW) is a not-for-profit health insurer and managed care organization based in Seattle, Washington. Founded in 1992 by Washington’s Community Health Centers to address gaps in traditional insurance for Apple Health members, CHPW was the state’s first not-for-profit to serve Apple Health and later expanded to cover Medicare beneficiaries in 2007. It emphasizes helping members access care and provides translation services to assist non-English speakers, aiming to remove barriers to treatment. 

CHPW works with a network of Community Health Centers to provide services beyond conventional medical care, including support with food, housing, and transportation, and it serves Washington residents with a commitment to care regardless of ability to pay. The organization maintains a strong local presence, with staff who are residents of Washington and engagement in community events, on the bus, and at PTA meetings. In 2026, CHPW announced a partnership with Dermpartners to expand access to dermatologic care.
