Community Music Center of Boston is a mid-sized nonprofit arts education organization founded in 1910 and based in Boston, Massachusetts. It expands access to high-quality music education through its Community Music School, school-based Community Engagement Programs across Boston, and a Youth Employment Program that supports leadership development in the arts. The organization serves more than 2,500 students weekly and is the largest external provider of arts education to Boston Public Schools. Its work positions it as a cornerstone of local arts education, delivering learner-centered and culturally inclusive instruction across a diverse district. Its staff and faculty participate in national conversations on cultural equity and creative youth development, and in 2026 it announced that Chief Executive Lecolion Washington will depart at year-end.
