The Composite Panel Association (CPA) is a trade association serving the North American composite panel sector, addressing technical, regulatory, quality assurance and product acceptance matters. Founded in 1960 and based in Leesburg, Virginia, it coordinates a broad cross-section of the value chain related to composite panels. Its General Members include 30 leading manufacturers of particleboard, MDF, and hardboard, who collectively represent more than 92% of the total manufacturing capacity in the US, Canada and Mexico. The association also includes Associate Members from decorative surfaces, furniture and cabinet makers, doors and moldings, laminators, distributors and equipment suppliers. CPA supports product advancement and competitiveness in the industry through standards development and coordination across the supply chain. A notable recent development is the April 2026 launch of the Thermally Fused Laminate Panel Standard, the first of its kind to provide a benchmark for specifying and using TFL panels across North America.
