The Compressed Gas Association (CGA) is a trade association in the chemical manufacturing sector dedicated to developing and promoting safety standards and practices for the compressed gas industry. It advocates for the safe, secure, and environmentally responsible manufacture, transportation, storage, transfilling, and disposal of industrial, medical, and food gases and their containers. With more than 130 member companies worldwide, CGA represents manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, and transporters of gases, cryogenic liquids, and related equipment, covering industrial, medical, food, and specialty gases. The organization operates through a volunteer committee system to develop technical specifications, safety standards, and training materials, and it collaborates with government agencies to promote regulatory compliance; it also works with other industrial gas associations to harmonize standards globally. Based in Tysons, Virginia, CGA has a long history of activity spanning more than a century in safety and standards. A recent development in late 2025 was the launch of the F-Series of standards to advance the shift toward a food-safety focus in gas manufacturing.
