The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation acts as the government authority for the Colville people in northeastern Washington, based in Nespelem. It governs about 9,500 enrolled members through a council consisting of 14 Colville Business Councilmembers. Although the Colville Reservation covers roughly 1.4 million acres, fewer than half of its members reside on the reservation. In addition to governance, the tribe engages in regional collaboration and infrastructure initiatives, such as expanding facilities into Chelan and installing electric vehicle charging stations. It has undertaken land acquisitions, including an 11-acre parcel in Cashmere, and pursues partnerships with higher education institutions and other organizations, including Central Washington University, Washington State University, Selkirk College, and Selkirk International, to support programs and data-driven projects like fish distribution studies.
