The Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG) is a bipartisan nonprofit organization that originated among Western states and now includes a majority of U.S. states and several other countries. Its activities center on providing forums for chief legal officers to discuss legal developments, coordinate actions, and share information to improve the quality of legal services among member jurisdictions. Historically focused on issues such as water, public lands, minerals and energy, CWAG has expanded to address emerging legal topics and to support rule of law programming in Mexico and seven African nations. Based in Elk Grove, California, CWAG convenes conferences that bring together attorneys general and their staff to explore public policy concerns, with some events including international participation. A notable recent development involved a collaboration with Comcast in 2018 to address challenges faced by children, seniors, and parents online through Internet Essentials and CWAG’s involvement.
