The Connecticut Association for Community Action (CAFCA) is committed to serving Connecticut’s limited income children and families in communities across the state. Through our strong partnership with the state Department of Social Services (DSS), community-based organizations, national partners, and other state associations across New England and the country, we engage all sectors of our communities, including limited income citizens, to play a role in addressing poverty in Connecticut. CAFCA's members, Connecticut's 9 Community Action Agencies (CAAs), continually strive to reduce the conditions of poverty through the identification and removal of social and economic barriers, the mobilization of community resources, advocacy, and the provision of direct services at the community level in all of the state's 169 cities and towns through cost-effective and community-based processes. At CAFCA, we provide training, advocacy, and outreach for Connecticut's Community Action Network. We offer our services in order to support or enhance the level and quality of assistance facilitated by our agencies in their respective communities, to whatever extent might be possible. Ultimately, we provide a framework for the statewide antipoverty network that works to reduce and alleviate the conditions and barriers that perpetuate poverty throughout Connecticut.
