Connecticut Farmland Trust focuses on permanently protecting farmland across Connecticut and is the only conservation organization dedicated exclusively to this purpose. The organization is based in Hartford, Connecticut, operating from 77 Buckingham Street with a small staff and a mission centered on preserving working farmland. In 2012 it earned accreditation from the Land Trust Alliance, placing it among a select group of U.S. land trusts. Since its founding in 2002, it has protected more than 2,700 acres of farmland across 33 farms in the state and has served as a resource for conserving Connecticut's working farmland. In March 2019 it announced the launch of the 2019 Farm Tours: CT Farm Flavor Series as a public engagement initiative. The organization operates within the farming sector as a conservation-focused entity dedicated to safeguarding agricultural land for long-term use.
