Contact Press Images is a New York City–based agency and archive that specializes in late-20th-century photojournalism. It represents the work of about two dozen photographers across founding, senior, contributor, and special contributor ranks, and includes the estates of Gilles Caron and Olivier Rebbot. The collection documents major events, personalities, and social currents from the era of the Berlin Wall through today. Founded in New York in 1976 to facilitate the production of independent photojournalism in the wake of the Vietnam War, the agency has maintained a documentary editorial approach that favors depth over speed. It operates as a small to mid-sized firm focused on conflict, human rights issues, and cultural trends. In 2021, Contact Press Images launched The Curious Society, an initiative led by longtime photographer Ken Jarecke to support photojournalism.
