Cookie Cart is a nonprofit organization operating in the food and beverage sector that trains teens of color in life, leadership, and employment skills through hands-on work in nonprofit bakeries and classroom instruction. Its model combines on-the-job experience packaging cookies for a broad customer base with classroom learning in areas such as resume writing, financial literacy, leadership, customer service, and interview techniques. The program serves local youth in North Minneapolis and Saint Paul’s East Side, with participation of hundreds of teens annually, and relies on a mix of cookie sales and charitable gifts to sustain its operations. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cookie Cart has evolved since its pilot programs in the mid-2010s and continues to emphasize workforce development and youth empowerment within its community. A notable recent development is the appointment of a new executive director in 2024, reflecting ongoing leadership activity within the organization.
