Cosumnes River Preserve comprises more than 50,000 acres of wildlife habitat and agricultural land held by seven partner organizations. The partners are The Nature Conservancy, the Bureau of Land Management, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Sacramento County Regional Parks, the Department of Water Resources, Ducks Unlimited, and the California State Lands Commission. The preserve centers on the Cosumnes River, its floodplains and riparian habitats, and is buffered by surrounding agricultural activity. The preserve provides social, economic, and recreational benefits to local communities and to residents of the broader Sacramento and San Joaquin regions. Its habitat supports wildlife, including migratory birds that traverse the Pacific Flyway. Based in Sacramento, California, the organization operates with a small staff.
