The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is a not-for-profit trade association based in New York, founded in 1962. It represents more than 350 designers across womenswear, menswear, jewelry, and accessories, and provides professional development and business-support resources to its members. The organization prioritizes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through its IMPACT initiative and sustainability efforts within fashion, offering thought leadership and industry programming. It administers the annual CFDA Fashion Awards and manages the Fashion Calendar as well as the Official New York Fashion Week Schedule. The CFDA Foundation, Inc. operates as a separate not-for-profit entity that mobilizes the membership to raise funds for charitable causes and civic initiatives. In June 2026, Allison Sarofim was named chair of the CFDA Foundation, signaling leadership within that arm of the organization.
