The Council on Occupational Education is a nonprofit accrediting organization focused on career and technical education within postsecondary institutions. It is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and traces its roots to 1971 when it began as the Commission on Occupational Education Institutions under the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The organization later broadened its scope to a national accrediting role and, in 1994, was incorporated in Georgia as a nonprofit educational entity, with full operational status attained by 1995. It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as an authoritative accrediting body for non-degree-granting and applied associate degree-granting postsecondary occupational education institutions. In 2025 the organization announced initiatives to develop world-class Bahraini professionals and to support postsecondary education development in Bahrain.
