Creativity Explored is a San Francisco-based, studio-centered collective that partners with people with developmental disabilities to support and nurture creative expression. Founded in 1983 by a psychologist and an artist, CE has facilitated the careers of hundreds of disabled artists and is described as a model in the field of art and disability worldwide. Today, the organization serves about 130 artists with developmental disabilities, providing art supplies, training, and opportunities to exhibit and sell work in traditional and digital media. CE artists have exhibited in museums, galleries, and art fairs in over 14 countries and have earned more than $2 million from their art. With 51-200 employees, Creativity Explored emphasizes inclusion and diversity, with staff, a board, and volunteers involved in efforts to amplify the voices of studio artists of color and immigrant artists and to address intersections of disability, race, and ethnicity.
