The Crop Trust is an international non-profit organization focused on conserving crop genetic diversity and ensuring it remains accessible for use globally, now and in the future. Based in Bonn, in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany, it operates within the environmental services sector with a focus on maintaining genebanks that preserve plant diversity worldwide. The organization notes that sustaining this diversity helps stabilize food supplies and provides breeders and farmers with material to develop more nutritious, affordable, and varied crops. Its activities involve collaboration with international bodies to advance plant genetic resources for food and agriculture, and it engages farmers, researchers, and policymakers in related efforts. In February 2026, Crop Trust announced the launch of Securing Its Seeds (SOS): Digital Innovation for Global Crop Diversity Conservation, a project intended to define how the world monitors, protects, and uses crop diversity.
