The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is a public sector legal services body based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is responsible for prosecuting crime in Scotland, investigating sudden or suspicious deaths, and examining complaints against the police. The organization serves the public and the broader justice system by pursuing criminal prosecutions and conducting investigations, working in collaboration with law enforcement and other agencies; it has a workforce in the hundreds. In March 2023 COPFS partnered with Action for Children and other law enforcement and third-sector partners to develop a pilot scheme to protect children and young people from exploitation by Serious Organised Crime Groups. The partnership illustrates COPFS's engagement with multi-agency efforts to address crime and harm in Scotland.
