CTtransit is a state-owned fixed-route bus system in Connecticut, operating within the truck transportation industry, with headquarters at 100 Leibert Road in Hartford, Connecticut (06141) and divisions in New Haven and Stamford. The network includes nearly 100 local routes and 13 express routes, serving more than 60 cities and towns in Connecticut and the neighboring state of New York, with a fleet of about 520 buses and roughly 20 million riders annually. The Connecticut Department of Transportation acquired CTtransit in 1976, transitioning ownership from the private Colony Company. In December 2022, the CTDOT awarded a four-year contract for management of the Hartford, New Haven, and Stamford divisions to RATP Dev USA, effective January 1, 2023. CTtransit has supported regional transit expansion, including the opening of CTfastrak in 2015 and the launch of the e-Bus project in 2022 to pursue cleaner energy transportation.
