The Cultural Academy for Excellence (CAFE) is a 501©3 non profit corporation located in Prince George’s County, Maryland. CAFE began in 1996 with a grant from the Kaiser Permanente Building Hope Foundation. Founder and Executive Director Lorna Green together with the Board of Directors, committed professionals, parents and community leaders lend their expertise to keep CAFE’s program innovative and creative.

The Saturday Academy and After School Academy projects are designed for all youths regardless of race, color, class, creed or nationality between 6 and 18 years of age.

CAFE's steel pan program is considered to be one of the most comprehensive percussion programs on the east coast. The highly acclaimed, award winning “Positive Vibrations Youth Steel Orchestra” has performed nationally and internationally. This young group of musicians under the leadership of highly qualified and talented instructors and musicians are known for their excellence in musicianship on every level.
