A long, long, time ago, Harry Dahlstrom wrote a short book. After several publishers said his Job Hunting Handbook was “too thin” and would never sell, he founded Dahlstrom & Company and self-published the Handbook and sent out free copies to a several dozen career centers. Zoom ahead a couple dozen years and The Job Hunting Handbook has sold more than 7 million copies. It’s used by thousands of career centers and has been printed under private cover for state and local labor departments. His Surviving A Layoff, which was self-published three years after The Job Hunting Handbook has sold over 6 million copies. He also authored and self-published Turn a Job Fair into a Job Offer, Now Hiring—Apply Yourself, and Out of Debt. In addition, his articles have appeared in Forbes.com, Bloomberg.com and other business sites. They’ve also been carried by Reuters to hundreds of newspapers and blogs.
