The Daily Nexus is an independent daily news publication serving the University of California, Santa Barbara. Its history traces back to the 1930s when the campus newspaper carried names such as the Eagle, Roadrunner, El Gaucho, the University Post and Daily Gaucho, before adopting the Daily Nexus in 1970 following an incident in Isla Vista. The publication is based in Santa Barbara, California, and operates within the writing and editing industry as a mid-sized newsroom. 

Its audience comprises the UCSB community, including students and campus readers, who rely on the Nexus for daily coverage. In 2020, it launched an Ask Me Anything series to increase reader engagement.
