The House of Dakota Jackson, established in 1970, is an American design firm and manufacturer of critically acclaimed furnishings. Collections for the world’s finest residences, offices, hotels, educational facilities, and public institutions, with manufacturing locations in the United Stated and abroad, flagship showrooms in New York, Los Angeles and worldwide distribution. Dakota Jackson is a multidisciplinary designer, artist and entrepreneur from New York City whose career launched in 1970 with commissioned furniture for celebrities like Yoko Ono, John Lennon and Diane Von Furstenberg. The self-taught Jackson learned the most exquisite level of artisanship from repairing and rebuilding famous antique works by designers including Pierre Chareau. Dakota Jackson has been designing and building pianos since the late 1970s, opening his own piano factory in Long Island City, New York. In 1998, Jackson was asked by Steinway & Sons to design a special edition piano to commemorate the instrument’s 300th anniversary. The collaboration continues with the most recent design, The Black Diamond Piano, a limited edition inspired by virtuoso pianist Lang Lang.
