The Dallas Innovation Alliance is a 501c(3) public-private nonprofit that designs and implements a multi-phase smart cities strategy for Dallas. It defines a Smart City as one where social and technological infrastructures enable sustainable growth, better resource use, and improved quality of life for residents. The organization aims to develop a scalable model that builds on the region’s strengths to foster innovation, sustainability, and collaboration, with the aim of helping Dallas become a forward-looking urban center. Based in Dallas, Texas, and founded in 2015, DIA is a small to mid-sized nonprofit working with public and private partners to test ideas through pilots and living labs. It operates the Smart Cities Living Lab, initiated in 2017 in downtown Dallas’ West End, comprising ten integrated projects. A notable recent development is a collaboration with Santander Consumer USA Inc. to advance a Mobile Learning Lab, illustrating cross-sector partnership to broaden its pilot initiatives.
